Analytical Chemistry
Analytical chemistry is the science of chemical characterization. “It is defined as the branch of chemistry which deals with the qualitative as well as the quantitative analysis of a substance.”
A complete analysis of a substance requires both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Qualitative Analysis
“The analysis of a compound which is made to identify all the elements present in a compound is called as qualitative analysis.”
For example:
Salt analysis, functional group detection.
Quantitative analysis
“The analysis of a compound which is made to determine the relative amount of different elements present in a compound is called as quantitative analysis.”
