Animals show response to external stimuli in the form of motion. Similarly, plants also show movement. Animals change their location in response to stimuli. Plants are fixed. So they change their growth pattern.
What is pulvinus? What is its function?
The pulvinus is the swollen portion of petiole. It controls turgor pressure in leaves.
How does turgor pressure prevent the plant from wilting?
Sometimes, plants lose water due to ex-osmosis. Such plants lose turgor. Thus some part of the plant wilts. Therefore, maintenance of turgor pressueris an important phenomenon in plants.
